Audition Information for Carmen J – August 2, 2014

Americolor Opera Alliance will hold auditions for various roles for the opera, Carmen J for performances on September 19-21, 2014. Professional and amateur actors, singers and dancers are invited. We are looking for a diverse cast for roles in the plantation, tavern and theatre scenes.

Three to five dancers are needed to perform gypsy and Spanish dances. Requirements for audition: Dancers will need to perform a dance similar to the above dances or perform one of the above dances.

Two actors are needed – White males: A speaking role (25-45 years old) and a non-speaking role (20-50 years old.) Requirements for audition: Actors will need to present a monologue/pantomime that demonstrates a wide range of character interpretation.

Singers are needed for the following: Two tenors and two bass/baritones – black males (20-50 years old) Requirements for audition: Singers will need to sing 2 songs: an aria and a showtune, spiritual, art song or a popular song. An accompanist will be provided.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 12 noon – 3 p.m. at Morehouse College in the Ray Charles Center (located at the corner of Lowery Boulevard and West End Avenue).
